Most people who come in for this would rather not be here. That is fine. You do not need a reason, and nobody will ask you to explain yourself.
Emergency contraception is a free NHS service here, and daily contraception can be started or carried on without a prescription and without a GP appointment. The paid route sits with our private health services. All of it happens in the consultation room with the door shut.

We take you off the shop floor
Nothing is discussed with a queue behind you. It moves to the consultation room and the door shuts.

The pharmacist asks when it happened, your health, and anything you already take. It is how they pick the right option, not a test you can fail.

Either it is sorted there and then, or you are told plainly where to go instead.

Sooner is better.
Emergency contraception works better the sooner it is taken, so it is worth walking in today. We are open Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm, and Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and closed on Sundays and bank holidays. If we are shut, ring 111.
Age restrictions may apply to the NHS services, and the paid route is for people aged 16 and over.
Ongoing contraception may need booking, so ring and ask rather than turning up hoping.

Do I need an appointment for emergency contraception?
No. Emergency contraception, or the morning after pill as most people call it, is a free NHS service here: walk in, nothing to book. The sooner it is taken, the better it works.
Does it cost anything?
Emergency contraception on the NHS is free here. There is a paid route as well, for people aged 16 and over. Ring and ask what that one costs.
Will anyone else be told?
It happens in the consultation room with the door shut, so nothing is said in front of the queue. A pharmacy team works to the same confidentiality rules as the NHS.
Can I get the contraceptive pill without seeing my GP?
Often yes, whether you are starting it for the first time or carrying on with what you already take. An NHS pharmacy service covers both without a prescription and without a GP appointment, and it is free. That one may need booking, so ring and ask first.
What about the coil?
We do not fit the coil here, which some people call the IUD. The pharmacist can tell you whether it is worth considering, and refer you on.
Will I be asked why I need it?
Only the questions needed to give you the right thing safely: when it happened, your health, and anything you already take. Nobody will ask you to justify yourself.
Where our patients come from.
You will find us on Pit Lane in Talke Pits, inside Freeport Shopmall. Most people walk in from Talke Pits and Talke, and we are a short drive from Kidsgrove, Butt Lane, Newcastle-under-Lyme and the rest of Stoke-on-Trent.
You do not have to be registered with a surgery nearby, or to have used us before.
