Seasonal and private vaccination

Vaccines in Talke Pits.

A jab a few minutes from home, and a straight answer on whether the NHS covers you this season.

Vaccination comes two ways. Some of it is funded by the NHS and free to you, if you are in one of the groups set nationally that season. The rest is private, so you pay for it.

We are the same shop in Freeport Shopmall, independently owned since July 2026. Ring 01782 508214 and tell us what you are asking about. Going abroad needs far more notice, so start at our travel clinic.

What actually happens.

  1. You walk in or ring ahead

Either works. Ask at the counter, or ring 01782 508214 and say which vaccination you are asking about. If the NHS has sent you a letter or a text, bring it.

  2. We check NHS or private

We check whether the NHS covers you this season, and whether it is something we can do here. If it is your surgery instead, we will say so.

  3. A few questions first

The pharmacist asks about your health, your medicines, allergies and any reaction you have had before. If today is not the right day, they will say why.

  4. The vaccination itself

Most go into the upper arm and take a moment. NHS vaccinations go on to your GP record afterwards.

Who this suits.

Anyone who would rather have it done round the corner.

  • Anyone in a group the NHS covers this season, carers included, although that list changes.
  • People who are not covered and would rather pay privately than go without.
  • Parents working out what their children need and where to get it.
  • Anyone who would rather not drive into Newcastle-under-Lyme for a jab.
  • Anyone heading overseas, although that one starts at the travel clinic.

What we cannot promise.

NHS eligibility is set nationally and it changes from one season to the next, so ask us whether you qualify this season rather than going by what was true last year.

Private vaccination depends on availability, and some things have to be ordered in first. If it is not something we hold, we will say so and tell you how long it takes to come in.

Ring 01782 508214 and ask. We would rather tell you now than waste your trip.

Questions people ask.

Do I need an appointment?

Not necessarily. We take walk-ins and we take appointments, so you can call in and ask on the day if that suits you better. The one thing worth knowing is that not everything is held in stock, so if you are asking about something less common, ring {phone} first and we will tell you whether it needs ordering in.

How do I know if I qualify on the NHS?

Eligibility is set nationally each season, not by us, and the groups change from year to year. Ring us with your date of birth and any long term conditions and we will check.

What should I bring with me?

Your name, address and date of birth, your GP surgery, and a list of your medicines. Bring any NHS letter or text about it, and wear a sleeve you can push up.

Can I have more than one vaccination at once?

Often yes, although it depends which ones and on your own health, as some are better spaced apart. Tell us everything you are asking about when you ring.

Can children be vaccinated here?

That depends on the vaccination and the child's age. Much of childhood immunisation runs through GP surgeries and school teams rather than pharmacies, so ring and we will say who to go to.

What if it has to be ordered in?

We will tell you when you ring, and we will not give you a time until we know it is coming. Not everything is held in stock, so ordering in is normal.

Where our patients come from.

We are on Pit Lane in Talke Pits, inside Freeport Shopmall. Most people walk in from Talke Pits and Talke, and we are a short drive from Kidsgrove, Butt Lane, Newcastle-under-Lyme and the rest of Stoke-on-Trent.

You do not have to be registered with a surgery nearby, though we will ask which one you are with.

Ask us about a vaccination.

One call tells you whether the NHS covers you this season and when to come in.
